Wasp Saviour

Opening my crusty eyes I hear it over the soft bird tweeting, a definite buzz

I go get the rescue kit in case

My friend texts me from Ireland and asks what I am up to today

For now I am a wasp rescuer

Saving them as they get caught in the nets

Of my window and talking softly to them

Go lower to the open air and be free

If I could fly with them I would not hesitate or

waste precious buzz

Heaving proboscis slowly calming as they sense the breeze

Sometimes the wasp catcher is needed

An old Tate Modern paper cup and a postcard

To trap and then release

It is my freedom on wings
