Fact vs Fiction: Options and Opportunities for your Writing

Monday 24 April 2023, 1pm - 6pm,
Wolfson College

Oxford Writing Mentors, in partnership with the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing, invites you to join us for a day event all about the uses of fact and fiction. From invented stories to creative non-fiction, from life-writing to history books, we will explore the possibilities available to writers across all genres.

Our speakers are Patrick Gale (author of Mother’s Boy and sixteen other novels), Richard Milbank (Publishing Director at Head of Zeus/Bloomsbury), and Dr Alice Little (Writer in Residence at Wytham Woods). Read full speaker bios here.

Whether you have a work-in-progress of your own or are simply interested in the topic, you will learn about the process of writing fact, fiction and everything in between. We’ll talk about the blurred line between fact and fiction, how to position your work for the best chance of publication, and have plenty of time for discussion.
