Support the
Oxford Centre for Life-Writing
When it comes to life-writing, OCLW is at the centre of the conversation.
We are a world-leading centre where anyone—from distinguished authors and scholars to first-time authors and enthusiastic readers—can come to learn, discuss, and find the words to write life stories of their own.
Life-writing opens doors to creativity, community, and understanding. Through our research, activities, and programmes, we make life-writing accessible to all.
Our work relies on the generosity of our donors.
It costs £250,000 each year to sustain our activities. Every lecture, workshop, scholarship, and visiting fellowship requires philanthropic support. This has always been the case. But the challenge is growing. Across the globe, funding for the humanities is being cut. As a result, more writers, scholars, and readers are turning to OCLW than ever before.
As part of our fifteenth anniversary celebrations, we are launching a Director’s Appeal to secure OCLW’s future.
In an extraordinary act of generosity, the Dorset Foundation will match all gifts to OCLW, doubling the value of every donation.
By supporting us today, you could
- Give an outstanding writer or scholar the opportunity to develop new work in our international community.
- Bring life-writing into local classrooms, giving children the confidence and tools to tell their stories.
- Give underrepresented, emerging writers the teaching and mentorship to become published authors.
- Inspire the next generation through free lectures, seminars, and masterclasses with distinguished writers and scholars .
