Phindi Mnyaka is a senior lecturer in the Department of History at the University of the Western Cape. She teaches courses in gender and African history, histories of colonialism in Africa and experimental modes of history writing.
Her research focuses on photography produced in southern Africa in the middle of the 20th century, with a particular interest in images taken on the Eastern Cape coastline in South Africa. She is also interested in oceanic histories and her writing aims to find experimental modes of writing that encapsulate such histories.
