Ian Hembrow is a freelance writer, editor and commentator with a career in housing and community development. His work has appeared in The Guardian, The New Statesman, The Oxford Times, The Oldie, Inside Housing and the Town & Country Planning Association Journal. He has also written two books about the global development of medicines safety: MAKING MEDICINES SAFER (2018) and RARE EVENTS – the inside story of a worldwide quest for safer medicines (Springer Biographies, 2022), and is a contributing author to Urban Planning and Real Estate Development (Routledge, 2021).
As an OCLW visiting scholar, Ian is working on the first, full-length English language biography of Professor Anders Celsius (1701-1744) – the Swedish astronomer, mathematician and physicist who created the centigrade temperature scale. Ian’s research and writing focuses on the relevance of Celsius’ discoveries to modern climate change.
