Dr Hana Navratilova is a Research Fellow of Harris Manchester College and a Lecturer in the Department of Classics at the University of Reading; she is also a member of the Ancient World Research Cluster at the Wolfson College. She is involved in several research and publication projects, including a biographical dictionary Who was Who in Egyptology by the Egypt Exploration Society and is a member of the Egyptian Expedition of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
During her visiting scholar time at OCLW, Hana finished the biography of Egyptologist Jaroslav Černý, The Citizen of Nowhere (Peeters Publishers for the Griffith Institute 2022/2023). Černý, a researcher with a transnational career, introduced Egyptology to the study of everyday life in ancient Egypt during his lifelong work at the site of Deir el-Medina, dubbed ‘the Montaillou of the East’, in reference to the French settlement made famous by the école des Annales.
