Have a rifle around in your coat pockets, your bag, junk drawer, or anywhere you might find random objects you picked up somewhere and, for some reason, kept. Receipts, an interesting seedhead or shell, a fluffy forgotten boiled sweet, the key to a lost padlock, an old watch battery, a piece of ribbon. The eclectic, the mundane, the overlooked.
Choose a small selection and write a description of the objects. Observe them closely, notice as much detail as you can. How did they come to be in your pocket or drawer, what was your life was like when you acquired them, and what, if anything, has changed? Are you motivated to throw them away, now that they've been brought to your attention? If not, why not?
